BAC Project Engineer - Condenser Platform

POSITION PURPOSE The Project Engineer, Condensers Platform, will lead product development and system design for our product lines, including responsibility for features schedule management, troubleshooting technical issues and product cost.
The position requires technical knowledge of our product application, concept development, detailed design, system performance, component evaluation and selection to develop a final product, reliability of the system, design for manufacturing, and general engineering fundamentals.
Work will be independent as well as in team environment.
The position is considered the owner of technical information and leader of project teams from a technical perspective interacting extensively with core technologies , engineering systems, product management, manufacturing, supply chain, and other functions.
NATURE & SCOPE The Project Engineer, Condensers Platform reports directly to the Global Engineering Manager - Condensers Platform.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES Responsible for the on-time completion and management of deliverables of the new product development, sustaining, cost reduction, and other projects as assigned with the product category.
Investigates and analyzes product design requirements and recommends optimum solutions.
Supports Manufacturing, quality and field issues - actively participants in root cause analysis.
Identify and implement product improvements and cost-out opportunities.
Establishes test criteria, participates in laboratory testing, and analyzes test data to identify and optimize product performance characteristics.
Develop 3D models and generates required Engineering Data including Dwgs.
Works closely with the designers in generating drawing and BOM layout concepts and system configurations.
Fully developed professional able to work with minimal to no direct guidance or direction from others.
Uses standard and advanced technical and mathematical principles, theories, concepts, techniques, processes, and best practices in field.
Proficient in mechanical design and be able to conceptualize and implement design ideas into the product.
Continuously increases expertise on all aspects of our product design, theory, construction, operation, and applications.
Learns and applies regulatory codes such as CTI, GB, UL, ASME, CE, PED etc.
Strives for continuous improvement and teamwork in a global product development and process environment.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES Travel periodically to BAC manufacturing facilities, suppliers, trade shows, up to 15% including internationally KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS Effective communication, written and verbal, with a globally diverse audience.
Ability to work independently and with other cross-functional teams to understand and translate design and process engineering requirements into product line, design components, subsystems and products.
Ability to work with cross-functional team to develop and plan project scope and timeline.
Ability to understand product requirements and convert them into specifications to meet product/component functional, reliability, regulatory and quality and customer's applications.
Collaborate with Quality/Reliability/Manufacturing/Sourcing to implement key metrics into the design of the product and ensure all reliability design goals are achieved.
Understanding of HVAC/Refrigeration, circulating air blower systems, heating & cooling systems (including refrigeration psychometrics , and/or electrical system requirements in order to assess internal data and supplier data.
Strong time management, project management, and product development skills Education:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Apx 3-5
years of experience in the industry with BS Engineering or 2-4
years of experience with MS Engineering degree; Engineering experience required.
Minimum of 1
years of stage gate product development experience is preferred Systems
Experience:
3D CAD systems, Intermediate Excel, PowerPoint, Word skills; Basic Project Management skills Technical Expertise:
Experience with Fluid Flow, Heat Transfer, Airflow Design for Manufacturing, Design of Experiments; experience w/ HALT (or equivalent) preferred Familiarity w/ engineering selections for components and equipment, such as fans, pumps, piping, etc.
Ability to quickly research and find technical information on the web, in textbooks and in journals Sound and/or Vibration measurement and analysis is a plus Ability to interpret results of FEA/CFD, and understand potential flaws in setup Ability to manage a project budget is preferred WORKING CONDITIONS Working Monday - Friday, typically 8:
30-5p, with flexibility on location up to 2 days per week.
Travel, both domestic and international, can be up to 15% of the time The role supports global teams thus occasional evening/weekend hours required, although can often be done from home with the use of a portable computer.
Primarily Sedentary Activity in the office will be experienced; however periodic travel to BAC manufacturing facilities with assembly (medium work) is Must have close visual acuity to work with computer systems and virtual models Will typically be subjected to only indoor conditions; however on occasional trips to BAC manufacturing facilities, the worker may experience heat, cold, humidity, and noise.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
