Reviews requests for service, evaluates priority of service requests according to the type of request and service location, and schedules own work to provide prompt and efficient service. Selects representative samples from the product lots in accordance with prescribed sampling guidelines and plans. Inspects products to determine the quality, condition and/or compliance with U.S. Grade Standards or stated contract specifications. Prepares and submits to Division management monthly activity reports on trade happenings in area. Plans and coordinates the day-to-day work at a(n) processing plant/inspection point/area office lab which includes scheduling work coverage at a plant(s). Makes observations to determine if plant facilities, operating methods, processing equipment and personnel are in compliance with SCI Division sanitation requirements and FDA regulations. Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement, including time in grade restrictions, specialized experience, as defined below. TIME IN GRADE:
One year at the GS-09 grade level is required to meet the GS-10 grade level. In addition to meeting time in grade requirements, applicants must meet the below minimum qualifications Specialized
Experience:
Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 level in the federal service, performing the following duties:
1) grading and/or inspecting fresh and processed fruits, vegetables and related products, including difficult assignments on rare or unusual products; 2) inspecting products for compliance with all types of contract specifications and recognizes nearly all rare product defects or diseases; 3) Individually makes, explains, or defends nearly all grade and/or inspection determinations; 4) reviewing and evaluating complicated processing equipment and procedures, and conditions of storage or transportation; and 5) planning and coordinating work by setting priorities to meet established work assignments and goals. Must be reflected in resume. Assignments may also involve details and/or reassignments to a different geographical area as determined by management. The incumbent is subject to geographic mobility should a directed reassignment become necessary. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
