POSITION SUMMARY/CLASS DESCRIPTION Starting Salary Range:
$52,013 - $68,181 Annually You must be a Licensed Counselor (Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor) or Licensed Certified Social Worker-Clinical (LCSW-C) to qualify services to identified population as defined through MCCJTP.
Work includes providing crisis intervention, counseling, case management, transition planning, re-entry planning, training of staff, facilitating groups, and providing linkages to services.
Work also includes coordinating with and maintaining relationships with the public defender's office, states attorney, local mental health programs, state hospitals, and courts.
CLASS DESCRIPTION Performs professional level corrections operations work, which may include supervisory responsibility, under general supervision from an administrative or technical superior.
Work includes interviewing, counseling, orienting inmates in the Detention Center; classifying inmates and developing and implementing treatment plans; and conducting education and rehabilitation program ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Include the following.
Other related duties may be assigned.
Functions as the conduit for appropriate placements/sentences between public defender, states attorney, judges, state hospitals, and community mental health programs.
Identifies target population via screenings and makes initial contact.
Develops and maintains an ongoing rapport with direct services staff; serves as resource for staff in working with offenders who suffer from mental illness.
Serves as an advocate for target population.
Completes referrals for community based programs.
Works with community partners to ensure smooth transitions and a continuum of care for target population.
Facilitates groups within the detention center.
Provides mental health based trainings to officers and correctional staff.
Functions as a part of various committees including but not limited to; Comet, RCC, TJC, Criminal Justice Partnership, MCCJTP, and others as assigned.
Provides individual evaluation, counseling/therapy to target population.
Provides case management services for target population.
Completes quarterly statistical reports as required by MCCJTP.
Acts as point of contact for families in the community of target population.
Serves as the point of contact and facilitator for the mediation program.
Maintains appropriate case records.
There may be supervisory responsibilities of interns.
Local travel; and occasional evening and weekend hours may be required.
Out-stationing of staff person may be required.
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE Bachelor Degree.
REFERRED EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Possession of a Master's degree in a related field.
Good interpersonal skills and the ability to relate well to a diverse population.
Strong organization, documentation and writing skills.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team member in a consumer driven environment.
Detail oriented with strong communication skills.
Ability to multi-task, develop priorities and reprioritize as required.
Ability to work in a fluid environment.

Computer literacy in word processing, spreadsheets, internet access & E-mail.

Familiarity with the target population.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS Licensed Counselor (Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor) or Licensed Certified Social Worker-Clinical (LCSW-C) Eligibility for certification by the Maryland Correctional Training Commission and possession of such certificate with 1 year of appointment Successful completion of required in- service training courses Class C Maryland Driver's License or equivalent issued by state of residence.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
